Event Registration

Thank you for registering for the Guns to Gardens Spring Action Circle. In this action circle you will be supported to move your congregation toward hosting its first Guns to Gardens event. It will be a six week commitment.

Sessions will meet every Thursday at 12:30pm EST via Zoom (link will be sent on the day of meeting) and cover the following topics:

March 10: Gathering Allies
March 17: Logistics
March 24: Gift Card best practices
March 31: Getting the word out: Press Release
April 7: Race and Guns
April 14: Pastoral Care and Spiritual Reflection

The United States has a gun violence problem because lawmakers have chosen gun industry profits over public safety. We know that where there are more guns, there is more gun violence. While our lawmakers refuse to do anything about the problem, churches can take action by having a regular Guns to Gardens ministry. All you need is a chop saw (which we teach you how to use in session 2) and some volunteers. By becoming a chop saw church, your congregation provides families an alternative to the gun industry along with the assurance that their gun will not be used for harm.

The gun industry sells guns by telling the lie that guns make us safe, but we can make a difference by telling the truth that guns harm. We agree with David Frum who writes in The Atlantic, “The way to reduce gun violence is by convincing ordinary, “responsible” gun owners that their weapons make them, their families, and those around them less safe.”

Start thinking about who are your allies in your congregation? Who from your congregation can you invite to join you in attending the action circle so you can start planning for your first Guns to Gardens event. Our children are tired of being traumatized in their schools. It is time we take action to end gun violence.
