Summary

This is a five week commitment to learn about the causes of the epidemic of gun violence against children and what congregations can do about it. Sessions meet every Wednesday at Noon ET from Feb. 4 - March 4 for one hour on Zoom, plus one hour of preparation work. Feel free to bring your bag lunch, depending on your time zone.

Description

Join with other congregations to learn why gun violence is the number one cause of death for American children and what your congregation can do about it. You will learn how we got into this crisis and practical strategies for saving child lives as an urgent faith calling. This is an opportunity to find the right action for every Christian church, in every community. Actions explored range from: preventing child access to firearms by secure gun storage or dismantling unwanted firearms; the role of the church in supporting the emotional and spiritual health of children and teens; advocacy and voting for a world where children are free from the daily fear of gun violence. In this faith-based series, special areas of focus include the disproportionate impact of gun violence on children of color and on boys, and the stories of young gun violence victims and survivors. As a parent, grandparent, teacher, church member, pastor or a concerned individual, explore this urgent topic on your own--- or better yet, bring a team from your community!
