The world is changing, and I need to change too.

I know that none of our individual actions alone are enough to slow the harm we're doing to this planet. We have to find ways to work together, to walk together. So I signed up for this wild thing, committing to walk from Louisville to St Louis. Through my training, I've been exploring why I felt this call to participate. I've never done anything like this before! Why this walk? Why this issue?

1. If we want to go far, we have to go together. On this walk, we're knitting ourselves into a community of resistance and resilience, learning together about climate change, faithful responses, and the gospel call to earth care. I can't wait to be part of this group, and bring new knowledge and passion home with me.

2. The PC(USA) is a big institution with big money. I hope that this institution that has nurtured me will choose to divest from fossil fuels at this summer's General Assembly -- and I'm walking with this group to amplify this hope.

And, most importantly: 3. It's easy for me, in my privileged life, to insulate myself from the impacts of climate change (so far). But people are dying - in drought, in storms, in migration because crops won't grow anymore. If I really care about other people, these children of God, I need to act like it.

I know that I can't do this alone. I hope you will be part of my community, this community of walkers, through your financial contribution. Please join us in this cry, this call, for the world to change. We can't do it without you.
